Thor
Thor

Meet Thor! He is a 3 year old German Shepherd who needs patience and time. We do not know Thor's background, but we do know that he does well with women but is very unsure and vocal with unfamiliar men. It may take a few days to warm up to men, and while he is slow to trust, once he does he adores all the affection he can get. It took Thor three days to warm up to his foster dad. At first he would bark and growl from his crate, letting his foster dad know to back up and give him space. Once he figured out dad had treats and let him warm up at his own pace, he was won over. Thor is crate trained, knows basic commands and is treat motivated. His favorite thing in the world is chasing balls in the back yard. Thor is a sweet dog that needs an understanding and patient family that is willing to work with him and reassure him that he is safe. His perfect forever home is a one dog home with an experienced dog owner that is willing to put in the time to build his trust and understands the high energy nature of the German Shepherd breed. He will not do well with small children. He is fine with his 18 year old foster sister but did not interact well with the 15 year old girl, so a home with older children is a must as is a home without cats. Thor has some food allergies and will need special food. Thor's current foster family is willing to set up introduction meetings to help Thor trust his new family. We want Thor to have a smooth transition into his new forever home. If you think you can offer Thor the loving home he deserves, please reach out to us. Are you interested in adopting Thor or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption! View full description »
