Cocoa Puff is an adorable puppy with a big personality! She is part of the "cereal" litter and is about 8 weeks old. She spends most days playing with her sister Cheerio. She is affectionate and loving, but curious and ready for fun. Cocoa Puff does great in her crate at night and during nap times. She is usually quiet unless she is playing or needs to potty. She is still working hard at her house training, but doing great at using the pads when she does go inside. She and her sister are doing great at going all night without needing to potty! She is a typical puppy and is learning not to bite or be too rough, and will need more help with leash training, but she is a super smart puppy who is very eager to learn! This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. However, a non-local adopter is required to pay for the spay/neuter at their own veterinarian by a specific date. After proof of the procedure is provided, $50 of the adoption fee will be refunded with the deposit. If you are interested in adopting this puppy (or any other JCAPL pet), please complete an application and either email it to the help@jcapl.org or fax it to (919)300-5524. Cheerio is the sweetest little puppy. She is part of the "cereal" litter and is about 8 weeks old. She loves to play and cuddle with her sister Cocoa Puff. She loves her chewy toys and being outside to play. She is doing great with house training, and is great with using pads for accidents. She is crate trained and does not whine while in her crate at night. She and her sister are doing great at going all night without needing to potty! She is still learning that leashes aren't for playing, but she's doing great with learning her basic commands like sit and come. This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. Trix is a bouncy, active puppy that loves to give kisses…just watch out for your ears, she thinks they are fun to nibble! Trix is 8 weeks old and part of the "cereal litter". She loves to run around outside with her sister, Pebbles and her doggie foster brother. Inside she gets the zoomies and it’s the funniest thing to see such a little pup run circles around everyone. Afterwards she grabs a chew toy or stuffed animal and shows that toy who’s boss. Although she is the smallest dog in the household, she doesn’t let anyone boss her around! Trix does well in her crate and sleeps quietly through the night. She will only whine or cry when she needs to go potty. Trix has made great improvements with her potty training and has even started going to the door when she needs to go out! Trix is such a sweetheart who loves to sit and nap in your lap. Her favorite part of the morning is waking up her human foster brother by giving him kisses. She may be the cutest alarm clock I’ve ever seen. 🙂 This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. Pebbles is a gorgeous girl that is so sweet and affectionate. She is only 8 weeks old but she sleeps quietly in her crate each night and only whines when she needs to go potty. Pebbles is part of the "cereal litter". Pebbles is doing really well with potty training, she has had very little accidents in the home. She responds well to her name and is a fast learner. She enjoys wrestling outside with her sister and her doggie foster brother. Pebbles is also working on her leash skills, so far she is doing well! Pebbles enjoys chew toys to curb her appetite for fingers and toes! 🙂 Pebbles is an active pup that is always on the lookout for her next adventure/challenge. This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. He enjoys car rides. This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. Poppy is the sweetest girl, who you will fall in love with immediately. She likes to be near her person, and will follow you everywhere. She loves toys and always has a toy, or 10 near by. She walks around the house squeaking her squeaky toy or tossing her jolly ball. When she’s outside, she collects every stick and tree branch from back of yard and brings to the back door, I guess as a present for me. What a good girl. Poppy is 1 year old and weighs 50lbs. She currently lives in a house with cats. She does try to play with them and doesn’t know why they don’t want to play. She’s really good meeting other dogs on leash, but has a little over bearing play style that some dogs may not like. Will require slow intros for yard play to make sure good fit. Poppy does have a few issues. She is extremely mouthy and jumpy when excited. We are working on that, focusing on sit command and distraction. This will take continued work to manage. She also loves to chew shoes, so I am great at keeping things put away. Poppy would do best in a home with older children due to her play nipping when excited. Poppy has an old break in her back leg. When we brought her in the rescue, we thought we would have to amputate. Once meeting her, and having an assessment by our vet and orthopedic surgeon, we didn’t think amputation was the best option. Her leg healed on its own, which wasn’t ideal, but it is where we are at. She doesn’t know her leg was broke, and she plays, and runs around. She can go on walks, and play in yard, but shouldn’t go on long, strenuous hikes or runs. I don’t know what Poppy’s life was like before we got her from the shelter, but Poppy is a happy, happy girl. No prior training that I can see, so she needs work. But, all she wants is to love her person. ? Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? Little bit is a sweet loving girl. She is about 9 months old and weighs 48lbs. She loves to give kisses. She is good with other dogs and loves to play with her foster siblings, they especially love tug-o-war. She also enjoys a good game of fetch. She is wonderful with children. She would do best with a fenced in backyard as she loves to be outside playing and running. She will make a perfect companion for any family. She does not get on furniture but will bark at the vacuum. She knows how to sit we are working on laying down, leave it, wait, and OK to go outside. Modelo is a gentle giant - easygoing, house trained, nondestructive, melts into you for pets, and will cuddly up next to you when thunderstorms make him nervous. He sits for treats and takes them gently. Modelo has lived with older children and has done well with them (early teens). Modelo is 3 years old and 65lbs. Modelo is a dog's dog. He is fantastic with other dogs - kind of a dog whisperer if you will. Modelo will match his play style to the other dog; he plays and rough house's with dogs that enjoy that, he is gentle and calming with dogs that are more low key or insecure, he picks up on when dogs are uncomfortable or have had enough and responds respectfully and compassionately. Modelo will become protective of his family once he settles in. It is best that if you are having guests or workers over that you have him meet them outside the house, or keep him in a crate or closed room while they are in the house. Meet JoJo! She’s a fun loving pup who loves to be loved! She knows basic commands and is easy to train. She is food motivated. She weighs about 65lbs and is 2 years old. She hasn’t had the best start in life but she doesn’t hold that against humans. She just wants to snuggle and be petted. She is house and crate trained and is still learning leash manners. She likes to nudge you when she’s ready to play, eat or snuggle which could knock a little one down, so older children or dog savvy children may be best. She’s a strong, loud girl and will definitely alert you when Amazon delivers so be prepared to have a house protected! She does great at breweries. She is such a sweet girl with beautiful markings, she is stunning!! Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? Hi, my name is Apollo! I absolutely have a kissable face!!I am looking for a loving family that I can love in return. I will greet you excitedly at the door and follow you around the house! I enjoy playing with other dogs along with my human time also. I am 54 lbs. and 1.5 years old. I didn’t come from the best situation and had to fend for myself. I am learning to love treats and toys since I never really experienced that before. I am drawn to food and may jump up on the counter to get to it, but I am learning to wait. I enjoy running around so a fenced in yard is a must! I like to walk and love to run on the harness, hope you can keep up! I will sit, lay and relax in the house the rest of the time. I do well in the crate but like most I don’t enjoy it. I’m not too keen on getting picked up but with more trust I’m sure I’ll let you eventually. I do great in the car and love to go on trip, love the wind on my face! All in all, I just want to be loved and have a great place to call home! I enjoy children but don't always realize my size so older children will be best. An adopter that understands and has experience with the breed is preferred. Apollo has lots of energy and will need an active family or a doggy fur sibling. Apartment life will not be a good fit. Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? Brody is an energetic teenage boy who deserves a forever home with someone who understands his needs. Brody is the best conversationalist that you will ever meet! He is VERY verbal and has perfected the “hound howl”! He will loudly let you know when he needs to go outside, when it’s time to eat, when he wants to play, when he’s lonely, when somebody is at the door and when it’s time for everyone to get up! He loves attention and will stick to his people like Velcro. He has a happy, eager to please personality. He enjoys playing with his foster sister dog. His foster family also has 8 cats. Brody enjoys trying to play with them and, while he is not aggressive, will try to run after them if they indicate that they might want to play tag (his interpretation of their intentions, NOT theirs!). He is doing very well with walking and enjoys going on 3 – 5 mile walks several times a week. He currently walks best with a prong collar. He loves to play fetch with his frisbee and has learned to “drop it” when he returns it to you. He is perfecting the commands “sit”, “lay down”, “stay”, “wait”, “leave it” and “heel”. He is working on the command “off” as he likes to try to jump on his people when he’s excited and he tries to “counter surf” in the kitchen. He will sleep in a covered crate, but he also enjoys spending the night on the couch. He would l-o-v-e to sleep in bed with his people (currently not allowed in his foster home)! He has not shown any destructive tendencies while in his foster home (except for his stuffed toy which was no match for his stuffing removal skills!). He will do best with a family that works from home as he currently has significant separation anxiety and would not be a good candidate for spending the whole day alone and/or in a crate (his foster family is able to leave him home uncrated for several hours at a time when they run errands, but he probably would not be happy being alone 40+ hours a week). Brody will need time and patience as he learns to adjust to a new family and new routine. When given the chance, Brody will be a devoted, loyal family member to the lucky family that chooses him! He is about 1.5 years old and weighs 63 lbs. Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen?
