Sweet, timid Roxanne is looking for a loving home as an only cat. She is estimated to be 2-3 years old, and at some point in her young life she was declawed on all her feet. Her life has been totally turned around after being found outside and taken into the shelter. No one came for her. She responds to rubs and head scratches positively but needs a patient family who will give her adjustment time. Are you that special person who can give Roxanne the happily-ever-after life she deserves. Are you interested in adopting Roxanne or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption!
Halo, originally Neon, was born in 2017 and adopted the same year. Unfortunately, her parents divorced. She went with her mom to a new home with other animals, one of whom bullied her. So she lost her dad, she lost her home, and she did not like her new surroundings. She was surrendered back to JCAPL, so she lost her mom as well. Not surprisingly, she was anxious and sad. Now it is time for her to find a new home. She is cuddly and sweet, but she still gets anxious about other cats so it would probably be best for her to be the only cat and maybe the only pet. Young children would probably stress her as well. We know that there is a great home out there for her where she can stay forever! Padma is a beautiful tabico girl that came to JCAPL with her kittens. They have all been adopted, and now it is her turn. She is quiet and a little shy. Given time to meet a new kitty, she gets along with them well. She will tuck her head into your shoulder if you pet her while you hold her. She likes to walk back and forth and rub on you, and she has a cute little meow. She is about 2 years old, fully vetted, and ready for her new home! Gerard is a gorgeous tuxedo boy, probably born around August 2021. He loves attention and spending time with his brother Jackson, and foster sis Allison. Then Gerard is the kitty for you. Are you interested in adopting Gerard or another JCAPL pet you have seen? This is Sam's foster mom. This is our second go-round with Sam as a foster. We fostered him and his sister when they were tiny kittens, and now we have them back again. While his sister needs a quiet home, Sam needs a very special home. I will let him tell you about himself. He is very particular and doesn't think I'll get it right. I'm Sam. Admire me from afar. I am a very handsome boy, and you will want to pick me up. Will I let you? Nobody knows. I might bite you. I might swipe at you. I might hiss. Or I might let you pick me up. You will want to pet me. Will I let you? Nobody knows. I might bite you or swipe at you or scream at you. Or I might let you. I like to keep you guessing. Living with me is like living with a Magic 8 Ball whose only answer is "Cannot Predict Now." I love attention. Until I don't. I love pats. Until I don't. I love to sit in your lap and let you stroke me. Until I tire of it. And I won't let you know. Until I do. Things I love: treats and wet food, jumping onto counters and tables, napping on the couch, chasing toys. Things I hate: loud noises and loud people, being approached from the front, other cats. My foster dad. My foster mom says he's nice, but I don't trust him. I swipe and bite at him way more than I do at my foster mom. Things my foster mom wants you to know: I try to be a good boy, and I am getting better at being good, but I am easily overstimulated and have a very short fuse. I also have very few "tells." My tail twitches almost all the time, and I often have "big eyes," but even with that, sometimes I like the attention and other times I will swipe and bite. I can look totally relaxed and happy and be purring and purring and then BOOM, time to bite! My foster mom also says I am very very smart. I have learned that she doesn't like it when I am on counters and tables and will jump down when she says to. Mostly to avoid getting a spritz of water. But still, I try to follow the rules. If I settle down on your lap and you want to move, too bad. You can move when I tire of sitting on you, or risk my wrath and teeth and claws. If I settle down on your jacket, you better find another jacket to wear, because yours is now mine. Because you left it on the couch, so too bad. I am looking for my forever home, for real this time. I know I'm not the easiest, but I am very photogenic, so at least you will be able to take good pictures of me. And maybe down the road I will settle down enough to cuddle without biting and scratching. For now, though, I need a quiet home with an experienced cat owner who doesn't have any other cats. I need someone who is looking for an independent roommate instead of a lap cat, a person who will let me set the pace of our relationship. Someone who is quiet and respectful of my space and my pointy parts. Someone who loves me for myself who can see my potential and have the patience to work with me to reach my potential. Right now, my foster mom has to put all the other cats in jail so I can have some "house time." I so want a house where I am free to roam and explore without having to worry about all the pesky other cats who live here. I can't come to PetSmart. I mean, that sort of public display is beneath me, but you can talk to my foster family and come and meet me at their house. If you have what it takes and are willing to take a chance on me for the long haul, I will do my best to be the best cat ever instead of just the most handsome cat ever. Maybe I'll even be able to hang up my weapons. Take a chance on me. I deserve it, and my foster mom says I deserve it. Plus she would dearly like her bonus room back and not have to be a jailer all the time. Are you interested in adopting Sam or another JCAPL pet you have seen? Ginger – sweet spice girl! Ginger is good for the heart, she is shy to start out, but once she’s comfy she is a great buddy. You will laugh at her chasing shadows, and smile at how playful she is. She loves to chase toys on a string, and she plays well with her foster siblings While she isn’t a cuddle cat, she loves chin scratches and head rubs. The afternoons are meant for napping with her sibs or next to anyone who’s sitting close. She loves company. Her personality takes time, then she just swoops in and fills your heart with joy. Above all Ginger is a foodie. She can tell time too. She definitely lets her foster mom know when she’s slacking on mealtime. Be careful because Ginger tries to help you while you’re spooning food out. If you are looking for a cat who is young enough to play with yet not a crazy kitten come meet this special girl. (Special Adoption Fee) Mamaria is estimated to have been born in 2018. She was part of a feral colony, having litter after litter of kittens. JCAPL took them in and found homes for her kittens. Though she is a shy kitty, we could not deny her a chance at a forever home, too. She has come a long way and will continue to warm up with love and attention. She loves canned food! She likes to be petted calmly and is learning to like being held. She exists peacefully with other cats and has bonded with a couple foster kittens. She will blossom with an experienced and patient adopter. While Mamaria's kittens have all been adopted, it is now her turn to shine. Are you interested in adopting Mamaria or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. (Special Adoption Fee) What a handsome boy! Tooker was born spring 2019. He was found in a car engine at a grocery store. He is a little shy, but he is very sweet. He gets along great with his kitty foster siblings. He loves canned food! He will need a patient adopter who is experienced with cats, and it would be best if he was in a home with other cats. Ideally, he would be adopted with one of the young foster kittens he knows because he loves to chase them around. He likes attention on his terms and just needs to have a long-term home commitment where he can grow his confidence and bond with his adopter. JCAPL will extend his trial adoption period to ensure things are working out on both sides. Are you interested in adopting Tooker or another JCAPL pet you have seen?
