Scout Update!

October 7, 2015

Thanks for checking on Scout.  He is wonderful, beloved, healthy, indispensable…family. Of our fabulous pack, he is undoubtedly the most affectionate and companionable.  We can’t imagine life without him.  🙂

Here are some recent pics of Scout.

Warmly,

Mindy

Tucker!

October 7, 2015

Tucker is the most loved dog in the world!  And I truly mean that.  He is a wonderful pet and a valued family member!  He has such a happy life with our three children and our neighborhood of dogs.  About a year after Tucker came in to our family, we welcomed our third child.  He may be Tucker’s biggest fan.  Tucker is so patient and gentle with the constant ear pulls!  Because we were concerned that Tucker wouldn’t get the exercise he needed with a newborn in our lives, we hired a professional dog trainer to “run” Tucker at Umstead Park 2-3 times a week.  It is the highlight of his life!  I have attached a photo of him with the other dogs he “runs” with each week.   I also included a photo of Tucker and his best friend and next door neighbor, Trudy, on our back porch.  Look at the smile he has on his face when he is with her!  Trudy was rescued from a dumpster in Southeast Raleigh, and she too is a poster dog for why people should adopt.

I hope this captures what a great dog he is!  Thank you of re-connecting but mostly thank you for giving my family the most wonderful pet!

Chet!

October 7, 2015

Chet is doing real well. He has got to be the most lovable dog ever.
He is so sweet and sensitive and silly. There isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t make me laugh. Everyone just loves him to pieces even our other dog Riley.
At first I wasn’t sure if they would become friends, well let me tell you they are inseparable. They are definitely best friends.
Thank you again for Chet. He’s just perfect.

Colby (Now named Rugby) – 2009 until now – Happy Tails!

July 31, 2014

Colby-RugbyI wanted to share our adoption success story.  My husband and I adopted “Colby” at the end of March 2009.  He was about three months old and was one of two brindle puppies in a litter of mostly black lab-looking puppies.  We fell immediately in love with him, and I just wanted you guys to know that getting him was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made in our lives.
We renamed him Rugby, and he instantly became such a special part in our family.  He was a well-behaved, easy-to-train puppy, and grew up to be a sweet, loving, gentle dog.  He is seriously the best dog we’ve ever seen, and we get that comment from friends and strangers alike.  It’s a good thing he’s so gentle…when we adopted him, he was about 16 lbs.  Now he’s 110 lbs!
Thank you so much for your great work!  I’m attaching a collage of pictures of Rugby from 2009 to now.

Jack Sparrow is in the 2014 JCAPL Calendar! Proud Foster Parent Moment!

November 21, 2013

calendar

I just sent an email to a former foster kitty’s mom letting her know that her JCAPL adopted kitty is in the 2014 calendar! Congratulations to Jack Sparrow!

About Jack Sparrow:

The day after I lost a foster kitten to pneumonia,  an orange kitty needed a foster home. Even though the pain from losing Captain Jack didn’t go away, the warmth of Jack Sparrow’s purr did provide comfort. The process of letting go of a foster so they can go to their new family is always hard, but the link between Captain Jack and Jack Sparrow made my heart sink a bit more than usual. Thankfully, the connection the adopter had with Jack Sparrow was obvious and that reassured me that he was going to the right home. It was a great moment when I received the first email from Jack’s mom. I love getting emails from adopters…several emails from an adopter is even better!

1st Update

Argh-Jack-Sparrow

I have been thinking about you since yesterday, I could tell you and Jack were really close and I wanted to let you know he is fitting in really well here. Right away he was curious about his new home, his new dog Cher, and his new Mommy. He is eating well and even went potty in his litter box with no problems. Last night he slept with me and this evening he took a cat nap with me.

I’m very happy he likes to cuddle so much because that’s one of my favorite things to do with Cher and now with Cher and Jack 🙂
I plan to drop off the pet carrier early this week. I will email you when I do. Thank again for everything and I’ll keep you updated!

2nd Update

I just wanted to pop in and let you know how Jack Sparrow is doing, he is actually doing really well! He talks sooooo much. He loves to drink water out of the faucet. His Daddy bought him an automatic laser that he chases non stop. When we bring groceries in, Jack jumps into the bag and wants to be carried around the house. He even thinks its funny to jump into the fridge when we open the door. He’s a mess! So much fun to be around and he does so well with his doggie sister, Cher. He actually gives her kisses. I’m really happy I found Jack and brought him home. Thanks for being a foster Mom!

November, 2014 Jack Update from his mom: Jack actually has a new brother. His name is Rocko and we were supposed to be his foster parents but we ended up adopting him. He is a 13 week 3.5lb. Chihuahua and he fits in our little family perfectly. I was so excited to read that Jack made the calendar I almost cried! He has such a wonderful personality and he is such a lap cat! He belongs in a calendar.
