Foster Program

Fostering Saves Lives.  Become a Foster Today!

Fosters are special people and families who care for pets in need until they find their forever homes. JCAPL rescues, rehabilitates, spays/neuters, fosters, and adopts-out over 350 cats and 250 dogs each year. Without a shelter, fosters are the foundation of our organization. JCAPL would not be able to operate without them!

Interested in becoming a Foster?

Complete an online Volunteer Application (including the Foster section) to begin the process. Also download, review, and sign the Foster Application Guidelines and Agreements form.

What else should I know?

JCAPL provides:

  • Medical and behavioral evaluation prior to placing the pet in a foster home.
  • Food for foster animals, dishes, leashes/collars for dogs, crates if needed, litter for cats, etc
  • Vaccines up-to-date, deworming, flea prevention, heartworm prevention, and spay/neuter surgeries.
  • FREE Behavioral Assessments, and training classes for foster family, and pet

Foster families provide:

  • Daily care, and a start on training, to help the foster animal become a welcome family member.
  • Attendance at adoption events.
  • Transportation of the foster pet to scheduled vet appointments for vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, check-ups, and post-operative care.
  • Regular communication with JCAPL Board Members; provide updates, request supplies, services, medicines, etc

Bubba
Bubba

Hello People! I can be the ray of sunshine on a dismal day. My story starts in June of 2020 when I was born along with 5 others. Wow, were we a handful for our mom. I am Bubba, the more reserved of the family. I do like to play with the ball in the circle as most kittens do, but I really like to sit in the sunshine and nap. I am a good napper. I am also a bit of a computer Geek. I sit with foster mommy while she works. Sometimes my typing skills are not appreciated but then she can not type either. I have a couple friends to hang with. We play chase and tumble. But I like to sit and cuddle. When my purr gets started, I am out for the count. Maybe I can help you work from home too? Are you interested in adopting Bubba or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption! View full description »
