JoCo Pets Spay/Neuter Outreach Program

JoCoPETS is a voucher-based program that reduces the cost to get your cats and dogs spayed or neutered. The owner is responsible for the co-payment of $50.00 for cats or dogs with the balance covered through grants and donations. There are no financial or geographical restrictions.

The program can only fund surgeries when funds are available.  We are currently open to applications, but response time will depend on availability of funds. It is the program’s priority to help as many animals and owners as possible so we will send certificates as soon as we can. A certificate, valid for 3 months from issue date, is sent to the applicant. The pet owner sets up an appointment that suits his/her schedule once the voucher is received.

How do I apply for the JoCoPETS program?

Online application  |  Downloadable PDF

The downloaded application form, once filled in, can be emailed to spayneuter@JCAPL.org. You can also mail it to JCAPL – JoCoPETS, PO BOX 607 Smithfield, NC 27577. Please allow 5 business days for an online application; mailed applications will take longer. If you have not gotten a response within a week, please check your spam folder.

What Else Should I Know?

  • All spay/neuter procedures are performed at Quality Care Animal Hospital at Four Oaks.
  • The co-payment is due on the morning of surgery and includes rabies vaccination.
  • Pets that do not bring proof of current rabies vaccination will be required to receive a one-year rabies vaccination. Pets that are current and bring proof of previous vaccination will receive a three-year vaccine.
  • Pets must be deemed healthy enough for the procedure by the participating veterinarian, and extra charges apply for aged, overweight, in heat, pregnant or lactating females and cryptorchid males.

Many Thanks to our wonderful sponsors who make this program possible:

Featured Pet

Gracie
Gracie

Gracie is a happy and friendly pup who is 9 years old and weighs 49 pounds. She was surrendered to a shelter in Georgia because her owners had to move to an apartment that does not allow dogs. She was pulled from there because she was confused, scared, and anxious in the shelter, away from the only home she had ever known and she would not eat or sleep there. She is incredibly sweet, and once she settles in she is goofy and butt-wiggly. She is a very easy-keeper, housebroken, good with kids (her foster owners have a toddler and a baby) and dogs (she lived with another dog in her previous home, and is staying with one now in her foster home), good on a leash, good off-leash, and comes when she is called! She LOVES attention and being told that she is a good girl. She is a happy girl and prances around when she is outside on walks. She is literally the most gentle treat-taker I have ever met. She loves to give kisses, but must have been trained not to lick faces because she will only lick your hands. Her previous owners reported that she is afraid of thunderstorms. And, she should not live with cats - she finds chasing them to be way too much fun. Gracie does not do well with transitions, so she really needs someone who is prepared to give this gal her forever home. Are you interested in adopting Gracie or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption! View full description »
