Tributes and Memorials

In Memory of Baby Grace

In September 2014, my family decided to foster Grace through JCAPL and we later adopted her in October 2014. Baby Grace was rescued from a feral cat colony, but you would have never known it because she was the sweetest, most loving cat. She became my shadow, following me everywhere I went. Her spirit was mild and sweet. She loved making biscuits, curling up in mama’s lap, sunning on the sun porch, and playing with her toys.

We miss her very much but are so thankful we had the privilege of loving her and gave her the life she deserved. We lost her in August 2018 to cancer. They say there is always that one pet that you bond with in a lifetime. Baby Grace was it for me. My husband said she was a mama’s girl… and she was. Baby Grace was just one of the many feral cats that JCAPL has helped over the years.  We are making our donation to the JCAPL Fix a Feral Fund in her memory.

~ If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever! ~

In Memory of Rosie

In memory of my best good friend, Rosie.  Gone one year ago today and missed every day.

In Honor of Dr. Sara Lash

She is truly dedicated to the protection and well-being of animals.

Her professional and compassionate veterinary service provided Kitty the best of care for many years. Her concern was always for the health and well-being of our furry pet. With her attentive care, our cat had a longer and better quality of life. When it was time to finally say “good bye” to Kitty, Dr. Sara was a great support to us then and for the loss that followed, and to Kitty in her final moment! We thank her for the many years of her service!

In Memory of Candy

Candy was the best dog and best friend I believe I will ever have.  She loved going on walks, splashing in a river, and playing with other dogs.  She always insisted I make room for her on the couch and at night she would hog as much of the bed as possible.  Her favorite toy was a bone she knew as “blue bone” that I would fill with peanut butter once a week.  Candy, I miss you and love you.

Chris von Drehle

In Memory of Piccolo

We were so glad to have him in our lives, although our time with him was way too short. He was the sweetest, cuddliest kitten. And he was brave. He was just a little handful of a cat, but he would climb up in our laps so confidently and boy would he let us know when it was time to eat! He was small, but mighty in his ways. We loved him and will always remember him.

In Memory of Savanah Raynor

In loving memory of Savannah Raynor for her devotion and love for animals.

In Memory of Christopher Krencicki

In Memory of Christopher Krencicki, JCAPL Alumni, Foster, and Friend. Chris loved all animals, especially black Labrador Retrievers. Chris and his wife Christine fostered, adopted, and greatly loved JCAPL alum Rocky Bear. JCAPL friends send our condolences to his family.

In Tribute to “Sassy” Sessoms

A most-loved dog and friend, as well as the best flower girl a bride could ask for! She brings everyone so much joy!

In Memory of Art Cornell

In memory of Art Cornell, who loved his animals. ~ Robin Nelson

In memory of Sunny who warmed the hearts of many, but especially Tom, for whom she was a grateful companion for years.  Sunny first appeared at PetSmart for adoption and came from Johnston County Animal Services.  She provided entertainment at many adoption events and lots of folks admired her, however she picked Tom to be her forever person.  Together she and Tom brought others dogs into their home and shared the good times. Sunny, you will be missed.

In Honor Of Dr. Langdon, Marina, Kathy and Susan at Willowrun Veterinary Hospital.

In Loving Memory of Chief

We lost you a year ago and miss you as much as ever today. The thumping of your tail when I woke up in the morning, love for mint flavored treats, tennis ball obsession, and gentleness with your two feline brothers will not be forgotten. You were an unforgettable, hiking, Netflix and adventure companion. Cheers to the best dog ever, love you lots and hope you are resting in peace with all the mint and tennis balls your heart could possibly desire.

In Memory of Scarface Kitty

Scarface will be greatly missed – a very loving & protective gentle giant. ~ Theressa & Darius R.

In Memory of Page Jenkins Partin

Our family will always remember the way your beautiful smile brightened up the room every time you walked through the door! We will always treasure the memories of our gatherings and the way that you made everyone around you laugh and feel young again. Knowing that you have reunited with so many of our family members in heaven is a comfort in itself. We appreciated your love and affection for animals and feel honored to donate to this wonderful group in your memory. Until we meet again sweet cousin.

In memory and to honor the full, beautiful life of Grimm!

In Memory of Beau-Beau

In loving memory of my precious little boy, Beau-Beau, who left me a year ago today (July 20, 2017). Forever in my heart.

In Memory of Rocky Bear

You came into our life in 2009 as a foster from the JCAPL to help mourn the loss of our first pup.  We fell in love with you right away.  You were so affectionate we ended up adopting you.  You learned you loved hanging on your float in the pool and hunting for fish in the lake.  Your best bud was daddy and being by his side every day at work.  You are really missed. We Love you.  ~ Christine

In Memory of Jennifer Ward Lent

A kind and gracious coworker whose generosity of spirit is deeply missed by all who knew and worked with her.

From her coworkers at the North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind

In Memory of Angel

You came into our lives unexpectedly. You lost your owner and needed a family to show you love and take much better care of you. You had been through so much and left us too soon. You filled our hearts with love and our laps with warmth. Our sweet snuggle bug. You will forever be missed and never forgotten. Your brother will look after you until we are together again. ~ Kim and Steve R.

Featured Pet

Laney
Laney

Hi, my name is Laney! I came into the shelter as a very frightened stray kitten with an injured leg. Luckily, the vet said it was a soft tissue injury and I recovered quickly. You should see me run and jump now! I especially love to climb a cat tree. I also love to wrestle and play with the other kitties and toys. I also LOVE wet food and cat treats! Because no one really cared for me the first few months of my life, I am very shy around strangers. It took some time for me to love and trust my foster mom. I hope there is a home out there for me with someone who will be patient and give me time to feel secure again. Although I had a rough start, I am a sweet girl and I think I deserve a loving home. Could my new home be with you? Are you interested in adopting Laney or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption! View full description »
